Thanksgiving Cranberry Sauce

This recipe is one of the best cranberry sauces I've ever made. The original idea came from Emeril's recipe on Food Network. Over the years I have tweaked it and changed the amounts. It's so full of flavor and smells absolutely amazing when it's cooking.
Make your own Thanksgiving Cranberry Sauce from scratch #dreamsmorerealthanreality

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of Fresh Cranberries (2 Cups)
  • 1/2 Cup White Sugar
  • 1 (Navel) Orange Juiced (1/2 Cup Juice)
  • Zest from Orange (2 Tablespoons)
  • 1/4 cup of red wine (any dry red, not a sweet)
  • 1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon
  • 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch

How it's done:

Turn your saucepan on to medium heat and add all of the ingredients except the cornstarch. Stir and bring to a boil.

Once the mixture boils, reduce to low heat and simmer until the cranberries soften and the sauce thickens. You can mash down some of the cranberries with a spoon to create a smoother sauce at this point. Or you can leave it as is. Take the cornstarch and mix it with 1 Tablespoon cold water in a separate bowl. Stir into cranberry mixture until it thickens. You can add more sugar at this point if you would like (keep in mind fresh cranberries are tart).

Now refrigerate and enjoy.
