Easy Pie Crust

Makes 1 Pie Crust (If you want pie crust decor, see the bottom for instructions)
Press a fork into the bottom and edges of pie crust so it will bake evenly #dreamsmorerealthanreality

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 Cup Sifted Flour
  • 1/4 Cup or 4 Tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Shortening
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1 Tablespoon Ice Cold Water

Directions:

Sift the flour, it makes a huge difference (I used whole wheat flour so my crust might appear darker in color than yours).
Always Sift your flour. #dreamsmorerealthanreality
Combine the sifted flour, butter, and shortening with your hands in a bowl. The dough should form into little balls.

Now add ONE tablespoon only of ice cold water to the mixture and form into a ball.
Aquire "perfect" circle look by rolling out pie dough is between two pieces of parchment or wax paper. #dreamsmorerealthanreality
The easiest way to roll out pie dough is between two pieces of parchment or wax paper. Helps with the "perfect" circle look. Plus the crust doesn't stick to the rolling pin.

Now carefully place in pie pan and pinch corners with your finger or press down with a fork. Use a fork to poke holes around the edges of the crust for even baking. Follow Baking instructions from the pie you make.

If you would like to add decor to your pie, here is a smaller version of the recipe for additives.

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 Cup Sifted Flour
  • 1 Tbsp Butter
  • 1 Tbsp Shortening
  • 1 Tspn Ice Cold Water
  • Pinch of salt (less than 1/4 tspn)
  • Optional- 1 Tbsp Sugar and 1/2 Tspn Cinnamon
Follow the same instructions for the full pie crust recipe. You will need miniature cookie cutters I found mine at Michael's. Bake these separately for 15 min at 350 Degrees.
